grain free crockpot meatballs

These crockpot grain free meatballs were a hit with the whole family, and it was super easy! #Momwin. At least once a month I make a triple batch of my grain free meatballs. I’ll buy a 3 lb container of organic ground turkey from Costco, and make a huge batch of them. Sometimes I like to mix up the recipe. I’ll either:

  • Add different seasonings
  • Try some chopped spinach
  • Sprinkle in hemp seeds (no one notices)
  • Use parmesan instead of mozzarella cheese
  • Or use ground beef!

Anywho, it’s important for me to have a stash of freezer meals at any given time. You never know when life will get extra hectic, extra busy, and plus… who needs to be cooking every day, all day, anyways? Not me! Inside the MommyFeedingFamily program you’ll find I have a few tutorials SHOWING you exactly how to batch prep. Not only that, but you get the recipes, and instructions for almost 40 recipes!

For this recipe, you’re going to need the following items:

  • 1 pound of prepared grain-free turkey meatballs
  • 25 oz jar of marinara sauce
  • 1 head of purple cauliflower, washed, dried
  • Pasta of choice (we like spaghetti squash)

What I did for the crockpot version was first, I made my batch of grain free meatballs, and then placed them in the freezer. Once they’re frozen, you don’t do anything until you are ready to eat them! You won’t need the other ingredients until the day of cooking. Do your regular weekly meal planning and don’t forget to use my free meal planning template as your guide. We love to eat this dish with spaghetti squash, and my girls always love it. I’ll even use it in their lunches for school days!

Now, on the day you’re going to enjoy this delicious dish, here are the instructions:

  • First pull out your handy dandy crockpot.
  • Then put a layer of pasta sauce. I use organic Muir Glenn, or whatever organic, non-sugar added version is cheapest that week. Often the Costco marinara is the best and cheapest!
  • Next, put a layer of meatballs.
  • After, you’re going to take your purple cauliflower and layer it over the meatballs.
  • Pour more sauce over the top, saving some for your pasta noodles.
  • Place on low for 6 hrs in crockpot.
  • Serve with spaghetti squash or pasta of choice!
