Workouts?

This week I’m on vacation with my husband and friends. I brought my workout videos and a resistance band to continue my workout schedule. This week I’m on week 5 of my ChaLean Extreme & Focus T-25 Hybrid! We’ve been doing some hiking and walking which will take the place of my regular schedule some days, but I’ll get on track with the schedule when I get home!

I’m feeling pretty good during my workouts! Some modifications I’ve had to make:

  • My allergies are awful right now, not just in my sinuses, but I get some type of seasonal allergy rash over my entire body. I’ve been spending most of my time inside so not to make it worse (except this week on vacation).
  • Running is miserable because I feel like I am going to pee my pants. I wasn’t a big runner anyways, but used to enjoy a jog on a nice day in the past. Now I’ll stick to my inside workouts, biking or walking if I go to the gym.
  • I do not lift as heavy when doing weight training as I used to in the past.
  • Workouts where I need to use my core for strength (such as overhead tricep extensions or overhead press), I sit on a chair, ball or bench to support my back.
  • I don’t do any crunches or sit ups. Planks are still a good workout though!

Remember, every body and every pregnancy is different. Listen to your body. Don’t use pregnancy as an excuse to be lazy. Use it as an excuse to take care of yourself and put your health first.

Eating Plan?

My eating really hasn’t changed in the last few weeks. I’m a creature of habit so my breakfast, lunch and snacks are pretty similar from day to day. Dinner we try new recipes all the time. I eat approximately 2,000-2,200 calories per day. This is about 300 calories more per day than I normally eat.

  • Meal 1: Prunes, yeah still eating these things
  • Meal 2: Chocolate Shakeology with chia seeds (is shakeology safe while pregnant?)
  • Meal 3: Fruit
  • Meal 4: Scrambled eggs, salad or left overs
  • Meal 5: Veggies & hummus
  • Meal 6: Vegetarian dinner (most of my favorite recipes are posted on my blog)

Symptoms?

I’m feeling great! I’m really exhausted by the end of the day, but that means I get to bed early! I don’t sleep as well through the night what with having to go pee every few hours, but I’m sure I’m getting plenty of rest.

Nosebleeds: I’ve had more than normal lately. It is probably a combination of the pregnancy and allergies. According to BabyCenter.com,

“Yes, nosebleeds do tend to occur more often during pregnancy. Pregnancy can cause the blood vessels in your nose to expand, and your increased blood supply puts more pressure on those delicate vessels, causing them to rupture more easily. Although it’s unpleasant and inconvenient, an occasional minor nosebleed is generally harmless. You’re especially likely to get a nosebleed when you have a cold, sinus infection, or allergies, or when the membranes inside your nose dry out, as they do in cold weather, air-conditioned rooms, airline cabins, and other dry environments. Trauma and certain medical conditions, such as high blood pressure or a clotting disorder, may cause nosebleeds as well.”

Baby Flutters: I felt Baby Isabella kicking for the first time last week! Pretty cool feeling!

Baby Nursery?

Things are coming together! Last weekend we hit up the Fort Benning Post Wide Yard Sale and got some GREAT deals! We picked up a new dresser that I plan to repaint, a changing table that matches the crib, and a few other random little things for our girl! The silver shelves are just there until we move the new dresser upstairs.

What Does Pat Think?

“This baby is officially starting to infringe on my space and time. I can’t wait until she pulls her own weight around here.”

Stay tuned for more updates!
