healthy tuna patties recipe with broccoli

Seafood is extremely beneficial for our bodies and these healthy tuna patties recipe will give you a nice dose of vital nutrition! During pregnancy the DHA from the omega 3s are vital. It’s necessary for our children’s brain development, and so many more things like iodine, selenium, and protein can be found in seafood!

But, to be honest, I’ve had an aversion to fish and seafood since my second pregnancy. Canned tuna and the occasional salmon at a nice restaurant are all I can manage. I don’t eat it enough or serve it enough to my family. So we do take fish oil and DHA supplements. More on my natural pregnancy supplements here.

My super easy healthy tuna patties recipe uses Wild Planet canned tuna and a few other superfood ingredients. I use Wild Planet because it is a better source, more omegas, and better quality. Since this kind of tuna is thicker and more oily than the traditional ‘Bumble Bee’ tuna, I had to adjust my old recipe.

This one is a big hit in my familly!  I love this recipe too because it’s a great freezer meal.

Here is the recipe:

  • 4 cans Wild Planet tuna, with liquid/oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tbs hemp seeds
  • 2 tbs coconut flour
  • 4 tbs flax seed, ground
  • 1 tbs ground mustard
  • 1/2 tbs garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbs onion powder
  • 1/2 tbs turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in large bowl and mix well. Mash up the tuna as much as you can. Using your hands, form into patties. Place onto parchment paper- lined baking sheet. Freeze. When ready to eat, bake frozen at 350 for 25-30 minutes. If not freezing, bake for 20 minutes.

I like to bake these on a pan with broccoli; it takes about the same time. We like to serve it with honey mustard. After you try them, let me know how they turn out! Enjoy!
